As we traveled by ferry to Koh Tao from Koh Phangan, we met a guy called Mr. P on the ferry. Who was up selling diving courses and fun dives for Scuba Shack?
We agreed to go to the introduction and get more information as they had good reviews on TripAdvisor.

Day 1
On arrival at Scuba Shack, we were given an introduction by Stefan. A rundown on what courses were on offer and with some courses there was free accommodation while doing the course.
We decided to do the PADI course, which cost 9000 baht. And we were shown our accommodation, which was a bungalow on the beach, Sairee beach.
And then that evening, day 1 began with starting the theory part of the PADI open watercourse.
Day 2
Started at 8:00 in the morning, so the first half of the day was for the theory, which finished at 11 am.
We had a 1-hour break to get some food. Then we were taken out on the boat to Nangyuan Island, firstly to do the swim test.
The swim test was to swim around the boat 2 times and then be able to float for 10 mins.
Once we passed this, we geared up in our dive gear. For the rest of the day till 5 pm, we worked on scuba diving basics and things like if my mask got filled with water, how get rid of the water.
Day 3
Starting at 8:00 in the morning, we got our theory, and this time we had a PADI theory test, we finished again finished by 11 am. We had a 1-hour break to get some food.
Then we were taken out on the boat to Nangyuan Island, the other side of the island, to do our two dives. The first dive was at a dive site called Twins and was a 12-meter dive.
This was a struggle as the deeper I got, my ears were not handling the pressure very well but equalizing the ears regularly seemed to resolve the problem.
The second dive was at the pottery dive site a 10-meter dive. And was a little more straightforward.
Day 4
The last was a very early start of 5:00 in the morning and back by 10 am. We got onto the boat which traveled to the open sea, to do the last of our two dives.
The first dive was at a dive site called South West Pinnacles and was an 18-meter dive. This was a struggle again as the deeper I got, my ears were having the same problems but after equalizing the ears regularly seemed to slowly resolve the problem.
The second dive was at a dive site called White Rock and was a 14-meter dive. Once this was complete we received our PADI certification.
