When backpacking there are some tips and tricks that can help to make it easier when traveling. These tricks and tips are often developed over time, and from more experience traveling.
There are a number of essential backpacking tips and backpacking tricks that will help when traveling with backpacks, these are as follows.
Avoid Bringing Cotton And Denim
Try to avoid bringing cotton and denim. These are heavy by nature, so you should choose a shirt made from lightweight material that is also water-resistant.
Do not duplicate everything you bring unless some underwear and clothes. Dry all of your gear out before leaving. Pack them in the spot with sunlight to dry them faster.
Do Not Look Like A Tourist
This is more for safety and avoiding hassle in terms of upselling. It is well known that thieves target tourists, the easiest way is to try and fit in with the locals. If you are using a belt bag or bum bag make sure it is not visible. And don’t overpack your backpack where it is obviously overpacked. This just makes you a target.
Try to travel ultralight packing only bring what you need.
Avoid Bring Too Much Electronics
This leads to the previous point. You do not need a laptop, tablet, Kindle, DSLR camera, and others. Bringing a smartphone with PowerBank is enough.
Using a lithium battery is affordable because it is more expensive but lasts longer.
Bring Vaseline
Bring petroleum jelly like Vaseline which you can use for blisters on your heel or between your toes. Vaseline with duct tape also can be used to shield any sore if you have an outside infection. And more than that, petroleum jelly is also a quite good fire starter.
Bring Sleeping Bag
This is not the most essential thing to bring. Sleeping bag if you need it, try to keep it 20 oz or less than that. Shelter or tent if required, try to keep it no more than 2 lbs for a solo one.
And the last one is pack, no more than 30 oz for a 50 liters backpack. Do not forget to bring Ziploc baggies, light, and duct tape.
