We decided while in Chiang Mai to do a Thai cooking course. We randomly picked a tourist agency which there is plenty of in Chiang Mai.

Looked at the brochures and we were sold when we read that the class would visit a local market and a better selection of dishes that we were interested in doing.

The cooking class we selected was an evening class from 4 pm to 9:30 pm and cost 1000 baht. This included transportation to and from the cooking school all cooking ingredients and refreshments.

Shopping At The Local Market

After being collected at our house. Our first port of call was to the local market, where we picked up a few ingredients we would be needing that day.

Markets in Sihanoukville

Our chef for the day was called Mam, walked us through the rows of produce, and introduced us to numerous spices, roots, and vegetables that to be fair we had never seen nor heard of.

Starting To Cook

When we arrived at Mam’s kitchen. We selected the different dishes we were interested in making.

There were 7 different courses with 3 different options plus another one of those options was to make the red/yellow/green curry paste that would be used in making the yellow/red/green chicken curry.

We decided to go with the green curry paste, green curry, tom yam soup, pad Thai, spring rolls, and mango sticky rice for dessert.

Wrapping Up – Would I Recommend It?

Yes, I would. We made 6 dishes and green curry paste, which I felt was excellent value for money. It was an interesting experience, which we all enjoyed.

And that’s it for now! I’d love to know if this guide on my Thai cooking class in Chiang Mai has helped you. Let me know if you have any questions and let me know if there are any more places to visit in Cambodia.
